We got a third of all podium placements

Quarries are always counted after the hunt. This old Czech saying is always a certain invitation for settling the accounts. The most suitable time for this comes after the season’s end. So how did the last year’s European Championship work out for our team? After Adam Lacko’s third place and our second and third position in the team competition, the FIA international automotive federation’s award ceremony confirmed our role as the Czech number one, putting our name among the European elite. However, behind the trophies there are individual results and looking back, we have every reason to be satisfied.
The period from April to October brought ten racing weekends to the European Championship’s pilots, starting in Donington, England, and ending in the French town of Le Mans. And so the best ones took participated in twenty main races and an equal number of the so called „handicaps.“ In total, everyone had a hundred and twenty opportunities to climb the winners’ podium, which also meant that each driver had forty chances of winning or landing either of the two remaining places. “We’re past our second year of existence and as I see it, the season wasn’t that bad. Of course, we wanted to be the absolutely best ones but you need to look at the reality of all this, so us having collected more than a third of all trophies and out of that the same ratio of wins is a great balance. Yet I still believe the numbers are gonna grow,“ smiled the team’s boss Mario Kress.
Our pilots Adam Lacko and the duo of Markuses Bösiger and Oestreich reached for the podium a total of forty-two times. Converting the results into the imaginary medal metals this gives twelve golds, thirteen silvers and seventeen bronzes. The team‘s collection was enriched the most by Adam Lacko, with eighteen trophies, majority of them bronze ones. He gathered ten of them. In comparison, the highest number of wins and silvers was brought home by Markus Oestreich, who scored six of these positions. “I believe that the next year will change the ratio on the winners‘podium. I’ll be happier if the number of gold medals is slightly higher,“ winked Adam Lacko.
Every pilot got an equal share of „super pole“ wins. There were twenty battles over the best spot at the starting grid and nine of these went exclusively to us. For three times, each of our pilots had the absolute fastest time and all three of them got a qualification triple. “The very first occasion we achieved this was at the home championship in Most, where we followed with a historic result – a podium filled only with our drivers. None before had ever achieved this. In Most I had the strongest moment in my twenty-three year truck racing career. In many respects, it truly was an exceptional season and I believe that the same is ahead of us the next time,“ added Mario, who is about to start testing together with his guys in November for the first time after the season’s end.
