The weekend at the Nurburgring began with a second place finish
9.7.2011
The weekend´s first race finished in the same manner as Friday´s timed practice at the fifth stop of the European Truck Racing Championship at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany. Thanks to Markus Oestreich we celebrated second place close behind the race winner Jochen Hahn.
„It was a perfect race and I am very happy with second place. It was a shame that I couldn´t beat Jochen to pole because I was interested to see if I would be able to hold onto that position in the race. The fact is that Jochen is invincible right now but we are very close to him,“ said a very satisfied Oese.
The podium was completed by Uwe Nittel in third. Our Adam Lacko was the highest placed Czech driver finishing fifth with his other team mate Markus Bosiger, ninth.
This afternoon´s handicap race where the top 8 from race 1 started in reverse order, with half points available, was very entertaing for the huge crowd. This time the podium escaped us when Markus Oestreich crossed the finish line in the always unpleasant fourth position. Already in the first lap Adam Lacko missed out on leading the race after some small moments of contact. „Unfortunately I was pushed out of position but after this I was able to overtake make up several places. It was a good race and the crowd must have had a very good time but I was not able to move up to the higher positions. It‘s not so bad because we still have Sunday to come,“ summarised Adam who eventually finished the race just ahead of Markus Bosiger.
Antonio Albacete showed why he is a champion. The Spaniard moved to the lead of the race in front of Vršecký and Nittel and finally he celebrated victory.
