Testing Session Checked Out Pilot Candidates

11.11.2011

Testing Session Checked Out Pilot CandidatesMichal Matějovský, the young French Anthony Janiec and the legendary Ludovic Faure, Oestreich Junior or the only woman of the European Truck Racing Championship Stefi Halm. Is any of the people on this list going to put on our team’s grey-and-red overall? Quite possibly yes! Our boss Mario Kress decided to test this, putting all of the above mentioned names into our Renaults and letting them ‘fly around’ the popular Most track.

“We’re past our second season and currently in the stage when we’re getting ready for the third one. The question of who is going to sit in the cockpit of our trucks as well as how many of them there are going to compete is still open and dependent on many circumstances,“ confirmed Mario Kress.
Apart from focusing on several construction innovations, the testing session held before last weekend was aimed at the possible co-operation with some of the pilots. None of them was a disappointment and everyone agreed that Mario built trucks that are currently among the best in the championship. “The truck is really sensational and I can feel the huge differences. I enjoyed these tests to the full,“ said Germany’s Stephanie Halm, who switched to the monster truck category last year, standing in a sharp contrast to all the men around.
It was a return to the truck cockpit for the French pilot Ludovic Faure, who proved that he had not forgotten how to drive this machine even after several years. It is no one else than Faure himself who holds the track record from Most which he made on the former profile track. Also his younger fellow French Anthony Janiec, member of our junior project this year together with Adam Lacko. However, definitely surprising was the participation of our pilot Markus Oestreich’s son, the nineteen-year-old Moritz. Although it was reportedly his first time in a racing truck, many would not believe that, as his times could compete with those of experienced drivers. “The other day he kicked his daddy’s ass in a cart race. I guess it’s time for us to change family members,“ laughed Mario Kress.
Currently one of the best pilots in the Scirocco race cup, Oestreich Junior started out with cart races in Germany. “My dad is kind of a role model for me. I enjoy motosport and I’m glad my dad let me try out the truck. It was an amazing experience for me. I went faster with every lap but I’ll leave the races to him. Being a pilot is not an easy job. For now, I’m gonna stick to my studies,“ said the thoughtful Moritz Oestreich.
Another serious candidate in the truck racing world comes from the legendary Matějovský family. The son Michal went in his father’s footsteps and wished to sit in the giant truck as well. Naturally, his father Stanislav could not miss the session either.
Our Renaults were thoroughly tested by pilots who have a lot in common. In the truck racing world you get a contract not only based on the speed you can go but the sponsorship and marketing potential also play a significant role. “What the upcoming season will look like is now a matter of negotiation. Nothing is certain and everything is open to changes. The truth is that we’re working out the details now, so that everyone can be happy, us, our pilots and our partners, too,“ winked Mario.
