Mario has a new toy
15.6.2011
We have a new toy in our team which has kept our boss Mario Kress occupied for long hours. Is there nothing else to get done? Are our technicians wasting some precious time here? No way. The new device was testing the shock absorbers of our trucks so thoroughly that it revealed a slip we had not expected.
„In Misano guys were complaining that our machines do not sit on the track while taking turns. That’s why we got this new device and I could hardly believe what I saw. Measurements proved that the shock absorbers, which we had assumed to be set up accurately, showed great deviations. I thought I’d go mad,“ confessed the team’s head Mario Kress, who had dedicated countless hours to testing the shock absorbers before the stop in Albacete. In the end, the time has come to adjust them properly. Not only has all the minute work brought its results, but it also showed how big a difference can faulty setting of the bodywork make. Time gaps between pilots in the last important races proof this beyond doubt. While our Renaults had a hard time competing with the reigning champ Albacete and Germany’s Jochen Hahn, the situation has turned more optimistic at the last event in Spain. “We still have a lot to work on. It‘s no pain - no gain and we need to look for the deficiencies which may bring us even a tenth of a second advantage. I must remind my guys of this constantly, we mustn’t rest on laurels and hold our heads down. We’re on the right way,“ winked the relentless Mario.
In Albacete we were really close to seeing the complete winners’ podium filled with our drivers. The next chance to fulfil our big dream is comes next weekend – this season‘s fourth event is taking the championship to the French track of Nogaro.
