MKR drivers close to filling the podium.
5.6.2011
The dream to have a podium full of MKR drivers nearly came true at the third round of the European truck racing championship in Albacete, Spain. All three of our drivers finished in consecutive positions in the main championship race. Absolute happiness was spoiled a little by Gerrmany‘s Jochen Hahn.
Superpole had already showed that this time the fight for the podium would be signigficantly more balanced. Jochen Hahn started from pole position but we managed to improve from the last race in Misano, setting the trucks up better so that our three drivers and also the reigning champion, Antonio Albacete, were able to squeeze within one second of each other. This meant that a very close fight was expected. Hahn showed he was fastest leading the race from start-finish but following behind him were Oestreich, Lacko and Bosiger. The only driver from MKR who didn´t make it onto the podium was our Swiss Markus. „ I am very happy because my boys showed me that my dream about an MKR filled podium is a real possibility. Jochen is a really hard competitor at the moment but I believe that we wil do it another time,“ stated the always optimistic boss of the team Mario Kress.
Again in the afternoon‘s handicap race we managed to stand on the podium. Our young driver Adam Lacko was able resist the pressure from the German Hahn to take his second third place of the day. Thanks to the reversed grid order, Russian driver Alexander Lvov was able to take the win. The podium was Czech-Russian this time with second place going to David Vršecký of Buggyra. „ In Misano I was fourth twice and here I was third twice so I would be happy if this trend continued. I am more then sutisfied with the first days racing ,“ said a smiling Adam Lacko.
In both races we were happy with the team results. The main race was won by the MKR Technology team and our junior project MKR Team 14 Juniors won the handicap race.
