Fatal mistakes decided about the European Truck Racing Championship.

10.10.2011

Fatal mistakes decided about the European Truck Racing Championship. The last main race of this year’s European Truck Racing Championship in Le Mans, France, saw David Vršecký make a fatal mistake. Not only that with his driving style together he caused a serious accident with the assistance of Antonio Albacete but this also cost him his position of the Czech number one, moving his team under the podium to the much hated fourth place in the Teams’ Championship. Thanks to his final third the title of the best Czech pilot can now be assigned to our young pilot Adam Lacko, whilst MKR Technology has become the best Czech team.

„Situations that happened in the last two weeks were unbelievable. Luck was not on our side even for a second and after yesterday for the first time I had doubts that this season was lost for us. Today I had a different feeling. It was like somebody up there saw what was happening and turned to our side because the last racing day turned out well for us,“ commented with a big smile the team boss Mario Kress.

Straight after the start of this season’s last race this season a huge crash took place, which meant the end for some of the pilots. Antonio Albacete hit Antony Janiec, who was closed off by David Vršecký and things resulted in a mass collision. Last year’s champion Albacete was taken to the hospital by ambulance after crashing the German Uwe Nittel.

Albacete, Nittel and Vršecký didn’t have a say in the following moments. After the re-start our Renaults got to the front of the field. Victory was taken home by Markus Oestreich before his bronze colleague Adam Lacko. Two if our drivers in the black and red overalls had the new European Champion, Germany’s Jochen Hahn, squeeze between them.

Next sensational moment came in the following handicap race, when another concert on the track was conducted by Markus Oestreich again. Adam Lacko didn´t finish the race due to a technical concert but his team colleague Markus Oestreich managed to push through from the eighth starting position to the leading one. Oese celebrated a win again, this time with his other team mate Markus Bösiger, who finished third. In this race the Hungarian Norbert Kiss landed a place between our drivers.

The last two races decided that the European Champion is Jochen Hahn, the second spot goes to Antonio Albacete and the third to Adam Lacko, behind whom is Markus Oestreich. The fifth position belongs to David Vršecký and right behind him on the sixth is Markus Bösiger. The Champion’s title in the team competition was taken by the couple Albacete/Nittel before our pilots Bösiger/Oestreich from MKR Technology. Bronze belongs to our junior project MKR Team 14 Juniors with Lacko/Janiec on board.
