FIA awarded the best truck racers
20.10.2011
Last season’s best truck racers were honoured with ceremony awards. Our own Adam Lacko was officially declared the Czech number one truck racing pilot, while the well-deserved highest honour went to this year’s champion from Germany Jochen Hahn
“Jochen had a great season and I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t wish him the title. He was waiting for it a long time. Moreover, already at the second event of the season in Misano he managed to collect four wins at a time. That was just out of this world. I think everyone has the desire to achieve this. Jochen had a headstart right from the beginning, which helped him overcome the crisis and difficulties he had now towards the end. My sincere congratulations!“ expressed our team’s boss Mario Kress his appreciation for this year’s winner.
The champion, as well as the other pilots, came to collect the European Truck Racing Championship prizes to the FIA gala held in Le Mans, France. The most valuable trophy was awarded to Jochen Hahn, whose overall score moved the last year’s champion Antonio Albacete one place behind him. The elite winners’ podium was completed by our pilot Adam Lacko. “This is the second time for me to finish third in the truck racing competition, but I’m now in a very different place than in 2004. This year the opponents were much tougher, it was a more difficult season in general. We didn’t have much good luck either and from the start, there was some trouble with technology, so in comparison, this is the best experience,“ said the bronze-awarded Adam Lacko.
Our team’s goal in its historically second season was the champion‘s title and defending the constructors‘ trophy. Although this did not work out for us, we cannot be disappointment either. We have become the Czech number one truck racing team. Lacko finished third in the individual ranking, his colleague Markus Oestreich fourth and Markus Bösiger sixth this time. In the team competition, our Renaults landed on the silver and the bronze positions. The second spot was occupied by the duo Bösiger/Oestreich and the third place by the Czech-French pair Lacko/Janiec. The top position was taken by Albacete and Nittel. “We were fighting for the teams’ title until the very last weekend. We didn’t succeed, which raises the bar for the next season even higher. We want to show that our Renaults truly can rock the world. It was a hard season full of problems and obstacles that we were continually learning to tackle with the guys. Every team member has a big share in what we have achieved and I’m thankful for that,“ concluded the boss Mario Kress.
